Certainly among the very best of all the tried and true song pairings, I am ISO what some of you experts rank as your favorite versions of this, one of what is surely some, if not all, of your/our favorite segues.

Thanks.

Missed this yesterday, been w/ family and what not enjoying the holiday. Taking a break now between familial events.
My personal favorite China/Rider has to be Golden Hall 11/24/79. As I discussed in my more fully fleshed out review from last week, this show is big from start to finish, but the C/R opener just wails, with Phil dropping some large ordinance throughout and Jerry blasting power chords and stacatto bursts. No way to be dissapointed with this monster.

Check out the blistering Cina Cat>Rider on 12-9-81, this version just never lets up.

5/19/74, 6/30/74, 11/11/73 leap to mind; also the classic 6/26/74 represented on DP 12...but really you can almost put on a blindfold and throw a dart anywhere toward mid '72 through '74 and come up with a winner.

I'll reiterate 08-27-1972 and 09-20-1990...

10-11-1983 rips and it's sister version 10-15-1983 is just as good (almost)...

04-14-1982 features a well played and of the longest versions played...

03-09-1981 nice

08-19-1989 Greek Theatre...

05-19-1974 huge...all timer...my personal second pre retirement to veneta

I am seconding Strats call for 5-19-74. HUGE indeed. Smoothest seque between China and Rider ever. They just nail it. Tight tight tight. And the mix brings out great wall of sound seperation between all instruments. Can't say enough about this version. My all time fav.

Can't find this one here in the archive either in stream-only or downloadable. Dagnabbit! Syd made that one sound so enticing, too!
Still plenty more to dig through, though. Just listened to the Portland 5-19-74. Had been a very long time since I'd listened to one of the versions from that period when they would include the interval with the descending chord progression before going into Rider. Thanks again!

Well, color me stupid. No wonder I had so much trouble when I played Tartuffe in summer stock-I never read the script correctly. Thanks, pal!

Wow, thanks for straightening me out on that. This thing's on fire.

Uh-oh-I need to grab the extinguisher.

Too late. The corner of the speaker melted. Small price to pay.

Hey--it's Christmas, so you can't shoot me...I really loved it on Aox, only it's half of what you asked about, and it's not even live...sorry, but I had to say I really like that studio version too...
